Office Communicator Presence Status Not Displayed In Outlook

We use Office Communicator which has presence built into outlook such that you can view the status of a person when viewing emails or looking through the address book. One of our users did not have this status showing. Normally, this is set under, Tools, and then the Other tab. At the bottom under the Person Names section, you can select the options to display status. Hers was grayed out. There is a way to hard code it in the registry. I've also found that if you use Outlook in cached exchange mode, it enables it as well. For reference:

Modify the following registry keys:

To enable "Display online status next to a person name" :
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\common/personamenu/enabled=1

To enable display online status in the To and CC fields:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\IM\EnablePresence=1
